From drug busting to Ekhurhuleni mayoral candidate

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba took South Africans by surprise on Saturday, October 4th after announcing the party’s mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni in the next coming local elections.

Mashaba welcomed on stage anti-drug buster and TV presenter Xolani Khumalo. Khumalo is known for being a fearless presenter on MojaLove fighting against drugs.

While the candidate choice did not only come as a surprise, it also received a minor pushback from several people on social media, mainly fellow opposition parties with some of them saying that being a crime fighter does not mean you could be a good cut for politics and leadership.

Following announcement by the Democratic Aliance (DA) of former leader Helen Zille being their mayoral candidate for City of Johannesburg, Mashaba was asked if he is possibly thinking of coming back to the city after leaving it when he was the mayor under the DA he said people should rather wait until the party makes their announcement on their candidate.

He also said that he is on a mission to look for young talent, but he is available in the event they don’t find anyone capable of taking on not only Helen Zille and the DA, but also the ANC, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party and the EFF.
