The opposition party, EFF has put the record straight saying they do not agree to any of President Ramaphosa’s recently announced alert level 2 lockdown regulations.
The red berets also said that it is important for the public to know that they were not part of the meeting between the president and other political parties as they believe it is useless to participate because he [Ramaphosa] is under instruction by the white monopoly capital leaders.
They further lashed on the president for regulations that still prohibits mass gatherings even though 2021 local government elections are less than a month and half away.
“The Constitution of South Africa in unmistakable that elections must be held in free and fair environment. Ramaphosa’s continued restrictions on political gatherings remain contrary to this.”
They added that his call for limited gatherings contradicts calls he made during the unrest when the country was under alert level 4 where he called for people go out and protect properties from any looting.
“The EFF is opposed to Ramaphosa’s continued lockdown regulations and we will not be subjected to a lockdown elections environment. We will continue to campaign optimally and no South African will be turned away from participating in any EFF elections programs based on an unreasonable lockdown.”
The Economic Freedom Fighters concluded by calling on all their members to continue with the party’s elections program.
