A sexual assault case against popular Bishop Israel Makamu has been postponed to July 13, 2021 for further investigations.
Makamu has lately found himself under a spotlight after a sound recording conversation between him and an alleged female church member emerged engaging in a cozy conversation where he was allegedly asking for sex.
The contents of the recording saw Makamu voluntarily stepping down from his show on DSTV channel Moja Love pending investigations on the matter.
The channel said the bishop admitted that it was his voice in the viral recording. However, he denied that the conversation was sexual.
“On consultation with the channel, Bishop Makamu maintains that he is innocent and says that the recording dates back to 2017.”
“He says the lady in the recording worked for him and their conversation was not sexual in any manner and it was altered to extort money from him” said the channel.
He made a brief appearance at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court and released on R 2000 bail on this said case opened by a church member which allegedly occurred on September 2020 at his office in church at Alode.
