Newborn baby found abandoned and wrapped in a towel in Mahikeng

North West Police seek community’s assistance in identifying the newborn baby’s family after being found abandoned on the street.

Police Spokesperson in the Province Colonel Adéle Myburgh said that the newborn baby was allegedly found by a passerby in Mahikeng CBD along Cnr Robinson and South wrapped in in a towel.

Police were immediately notified by the said person and they came to the baby’s rescue.

“Anyone who have information that can assist the police on the identity of the baby, the whereabouts of her mother or family members is requested to contact Warrant Officer Jacob Motiki from Mmabatho Family Violence, Sexual Offences and Child Protection Unit on 060 970 9245 or report anonymously at crimes stop on 08600 10111 or on My SAPS App” said Colonel Myburgh.

The baby’s picture could not be found as the baby was rushed to hospital for check up.
