Husband and wife released on bail on fraud and theft charges by Polokwane District Court

Polokwane District Court has granted a couple R 500.00 bail each following theft and fraud charges.

The 52 years old Johannes Petrus Meintjies and 44 years old Mavis Joy Meintjies had been at the employ of a cash loan company in Polokwane as Manager and Admin Clerk respectively and allegedly started stealing from the company’s account as of July 2018.

Special Crimes Unit, Hawks’ Spokesperson in the area Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said that it was found that the pair connived to manipulate the company financial books for over a period of two years which resulted in the company losing over R105 000.00.

“The company discovered the suspicious transactions during an internal audit. A case of fraud was opened and referred to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation. The two suspects were traced and arrested in Tzaneen on 09 March 2021” said Captain Mgolodela.

Their case was postponed to 14 April 2021 for Regional Court date.
