With just less than two weeks left before the school reopening, teachers have already made their way to school starting from Monday, February 1st ahead of reopening on February 15th for the learners.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education said they welcomed back to school an estimated number of 33 000 teachers.

The department said that the welcoming back of the teachers in various schools was also met with disappointments having found several school properties being damaged and some being stolen.

Education MEC in the province Majuba said through a statement that most of these schools where damaged throughout festive season.
Among them it includes Ben Matloshe Secondary  School in Bushbuckridge where corrugated iron roofing from two building blocks were stolen.

“Tikhontele Secondary School in Matsulu, Ehlanzeni was also broken into and learning and teaching equipments worth more than R88 000 were stolen.”

“At Lindani Primary School in Sabie, 16 toilet seats  and 12 face/hand basins with taps were stolen after the school was broken into.”

But the MEC said that all these incidents were reported to the police and added that the sad thing is that learners will suffer the most.
