Mozambican national set tl be deported after being guilty of fraud

The Hawks in Mpumalanga has managed to secure a successful prosecution of a 27 years old Mozambican national whom it was also discovered that he was in the country illegally.

Oshvaldo Masyayela was arrested earlier this years, April 24th, at Nkomazi tollgate after receiving information about a certain individual performing suspicious acts.

It is said that Masyayela had been approaching truck drivers and motorists offering to pay for them at the toll in exchange for hard cash using stolen bank cards and credit cards.

An undercover operation which was shortly conducted by the Hawks and FNB and Nedbank forensic investigators led to his arrest.

FNB and Nedbank credit cards were found in his possession, which were reported stolen from the institutions, prejudicing and causing an actual loss of R 15 162.00.

He made several court appearances after his bail was successfully opposed and he also pleaded guilty.

He was found guilty on all two counts of fraud and Contravention of Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002 and sentenced to R 6000 fine of 6 months imprisonment and R 2000 fine of 3 months imprisonment.

He is also set to be deported to his country.
