A 32 years old man is set to spend a weekend in the holding cells after handing himself over on allegations of having defrauding an auditing firm, KPMG.

The news of Fidelis Moema made rounds on social media flexing about buying his girlfriend a brand new Range Rover for her pregnancy, hiring an expensive chopper for a gender reveal party and also taking her to an expensive holiday to Greece.

It was later found that Moema, who was working for KPMG had stolen around R 16.5million from the firm, a money that was meant for student bursary by directing the money to his bank account/s.

“Instead of paying university fees on behalf of students, the accused would pay the money into the bank accounts belonging to friends and individuals who own companies. The money would then be paid back into his personal bank account,” police said in a statement.

He is facing charges of theft, fraud, and money laundering.

He made a brief appearance at the Palm Ridge Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday, 2 April 2024 after he handed over himself to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crimes Investigation team in Johannesburg.

Hawks says more arrests are expected.
