Man (61) gets 8 years imprisonment for demanding money for pregnancy termination

A 61 years old man has been handed down 8 years direct imprisonment for demanding gratification from a woman who wanted to make a pregnancy termination.
The Bethal Regional Magistrates Court heard that Mandla Mlotshwa who was employed by Sead public clinic in Emzinoni Bethal, demanded gratification from the patient who came to the clinic for termination of pregnancy services on June 2nd 2017.
At first he lied and introduced himself as a nurse in the name of Sithole which was later found to be a lie and further told the patient that the pregnancy is already in the 12 weeks circulation and would not be possible unless she pays him R 700.
The matter was reported to the police and further transferred to the Hawks for further investigation following an agreement between the two.
An undercover operation was authorized and executed, and the accused was arrested upon receipt of the gratification money.
