Murder case against ANC MP postponed

Estimated reading time: 4 minute(s)

Faulty in court recording devices and technical glitches has seen a murder case against ANC MP being postponed yet again.

The 34 years old Sibusiso Kula made an appearance at Orkney Magistrates’ Court following his arrest on January 20 this years for the alleged murder of his wife in November 2022.

NPA Spokesperson Henry Mamothame said that police records allege that the wife, Jennifer Mohlomi was found murdered on November 27th in what was made to look like a murder with a stab wound on her back.

Kula is the one who transported her to the nearby hospital alleging that he was not home at the time of the murder. She was declared dead upon arrival at the medical facility.

An attempt by his attorneys to block further postponement was also unsuccessful due to the technical glitches in court.

While the matter has been postponed to April 26th, the Director of Public Prosecutions in North West, Dr. Rachel Makhari has also made an application for the matter to be transferred to a higher court, owing to its serious nature.

Mamothame also said that the office has noted some aspects of the investigation to be attended to by the investigating officer before the transfer can be authorised.
