North West Police records an increasing number of vehicle hijacking in Hebron

The police Bojanala District in the North West say they have been an increased number of hijacking in the area, Hebron to be specific.

As a result, police spokesperson in the province Colonel Adéle Myburgh has urged motorists to be vigilant when around the area as number of hijacking reports have been on the increase since November 2022 to February 2023.

She said that victims who were robbed by people pretending to be clients seeking assistance in transporting goods with Light Delivery Vehicles (LDVs).

“On Monday, 3 November 2022, at about 16h00, a Hyundai H100 vehicle was hijacked at Itsoseng, near the Hebron Mall.”

“In Another incident reported on Tuesday, 24 January 2023, a Hyundai bakkie was hijacked by four armed suspects at Itsoseng, Hebron. The victim was kidnapped and released unharmed in a bushy area in the vicinity of Oskraal.”

“Another hijacking was reported on Thursday, 9 February 2023, at Newstand Section in Hebron. The victim was overpowered by three suspects, who took his Nissan NP300 bakkie.”

“The last incident was reported on Friday, 10 February 2023, when the driver of an Izuzu bakkie was overpowered and hijacked by two armed suspects in Rockville Section in Hebron” said Myburgh.
